Terra-Forma offers a number of environmental programs based on the concept of Magical Realism and Mythic Journey.

Magical realism and mythic journey are at the core of Terra-Forma Education's mission in teaching environmental education and community- building to all ages of people. Our methodology uses the easily accessible language of realism coupled with the magic of imagination, to create a vision that transcends the limits of our shared reality. Our model incorporates folktales, oral histories, native cultures and the literary mythic archetypes with a world infused in earth magic. These archetypes are best described by Joseph Campbell in The Hero with a Thousand Faces. He wrote, "The shock of recognition we receive from the timelessness of these images, from primal cultures to the most contemporary, was an illumination not only of our inward life but of the same deep spiritual ground from which all human life springs." These mythological archetypes exist within the framework of a quest or mythical journey. For example, the unwitting hero suddenly takes the lead when the formal leader has become the victim of an unforeseen circumstance.

The roots of magical realism and mythic journey run deep. These stories that depict ordinary people and ordinary lives, in extraordinary situations, and with abilities and powers that exist beyond what is traditionally accepted are integral in the weaving of the fabric that makes Terra-Forma Education's Extreme Eco-Quest come alive.
